The Cluster of Excellence -Cellular Stress Responses in Aging-Associated Diseases (CECAD) is offering Medical Student Fellowships. These fellowships can be found to get a job occurring between May to October 2017 (late stage) and May to December 2017 (early stage).
The assignment of CECAD would be to unravel the molecular mechanisms inherent lifespan regulation and aging-associated diseases (e.g. aging-related deterioration of pathogen defence, cancer, diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders). CECAD’s long term aim would be to develop new therapeutic interventions.
CECAD is the unifying driving force bringing together researchers and clinicians in the University as well as the University Hospital of Cologne. CECAD Cologne is financed by the German Research Foundation (DFG) within the Excellence Initiative set up by the German Federal and State Governments.
Course Level: Fellowships are accessible for medical students.
Study Subject: Fellowships are given to develop new therapeutic interventions.
Scholarship Award:
- 4 Fellowships: 735 €/month
- 1 Fellowship: 735 €/month

Eligibility: To enable medical students at distinct phases in their careers to achieve research experience and also to practice their ‘bench-to-bedside’ believing, CECAD now offers:
- 4 Fellowships for early period (1.-4. Session, Vorklinik) medical students for 2 months
Aim: ‘Experience bench research!’ Funding: 735 €/month
- 1 Fellowship for late period (from 5. Session, Klinik) medical students for 6 months
Aim: ‘Conduct a research project in one of our CECAD laboratories!’ Funding: 735 €/month
Nationality: Citizens of Germany are qualified to apply.

- A CV – a letter of motivation (maximum. 1 page)
- A simple description and planned interval of a particular lab endeavor – supporting letter by the hosting CECAD group (prerequisite for financing!)
