Applications are welcomed for Faculty of Health Sciences– Research Equipment Infrastructure Grants at the University of Cape Town in SouthAfrica South African candidates are qualified to get this grant.

The function of this round of grants is to offer co-funding to research groups for single products of research equipment that do not get approved for equipment financing awards from the University Equipment Committee (UEC) or the Academic Computing Committee.

ScholarshipAward: Broadly speaking, this classification consists of any vital research equipment that is categorized as ‘infrastructure’ by the UEC or that is listed below the UEC financing limit of R100, 000.

  • Only applications for single products of equipment that are specifically owned by the requirements of research will be thought about.
  • Applications should be ranked and backed by the candidate’s Departmental Research Committee ( DRC) prior to submission to the Faculty Equipment Committee.
  • Applicants should offer a minimum contribution of a minimum of 10%of the overall expense of the equipment.
  • The optimum award from the Faculty Equipment Committee is R100, 000.
  • Funding is competitive and is restricted by the overall readily available Faculty Equipment Committee budget plan of R400, 000.

Eligibility: The following requirements should be fulfilled in order for candidates to be qualified for the scholarship:

Applicants should hold a scholastic or joint consultation in the UCT Faculty of Health Sciences and are restricted to one application per round.

Criteria for choice:

Awards will be made on a competitive basis.

Applications will be examined by the Faculty Equipment Committee and ranked based upon the strength of the research requirement (consisting of advantage to trainee and postdoc jobs), positioning with the Faculty research method & DRC ranking.

Preference will be provided to candidates who are within 5 years of consultation at UCT.
