The AXA Research Chair Programme in African Climate Risk at the ACDI intends to (i) measure the relative contribution of environment modification and landscape management effects of weather condition and seasonal environment extremes; and (ii) approximate the social and financial advantage of various adjustment alternatives to minimize the effects of these severe occasions.

Eligibility:

Required

  • A PhD, granted within the previous 5 years, with an expertise in economics.
  • Has strong financial modelling, information processing and analysis abilities.
  • Demonstrated capability to produce peer-reviewed research posts.
  • Excellent composed and spoken interaction abilities in English.
  • Experience, or a desire to construct experience, in interacting research to varied non-expert audiences.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of multi-criteria analysis that integrates both financial and social elements.
  • Has experience in resource and/or ecological economics, specifically in the farming and water sectors, and their worth chains.
  • Has useful experience of running hydro-economic and agro-economic computer system designs.
  • Has proficiency in South African and/or southern African financial settings.
  • The experience of guidance or co-supervision of PhD and/or Master’s level research tasks.

Nationality: Citizens of South Africa are qualified to use.
